Past and present members of Bishops Tachbrook's community will be contributing to a celebration of the village and its heritage at St Chad's September Flower Festival.
And the three-day event promises to offer much more than floral arrangements, with exhibitions and displays about the village’s history as well as work submitted by schoolchildren and current organisations in the area.

Festival organiser Anne Bayston said: “Apart from the normal flower arrangements, we are also doing a 21-foot long flower carpet that is going to run up the aisle.

“It has been done in Belgium and Italy, as well as in the Arundel Cathedral in Sussex, but it’s a first for me and I think it’s the first for this area.”

“We’re looking forward to seeing it complete and we’re hoping a lot of people will come over the three days.”

Vicar Canon Mervyn Roberts said: “I am particularly anxious to encourage visits from everyone who has memories of growing up in the village of have ancestors associated with the locality.

“So please support this very special celebration of our village by attending, telling others about the event, making a donation towards the cost of flowers or offering a helping hand for an hour or two.”

The flower festival at St Chad’s church starts on September 12 and will be open from 10am to 6pm until September 14.

Anyone wishing to find out more about the festival or help out before or during the event should contact Ann Bayston on 831508 or Canon Roberts on 426922.
