Old friends were reunited at Clapham Terrace Primary School in Leamington on Saturday.
Around 100 former pupils, who attended the school from the 1950s and before, came from far and wide to share memories and meet childhood classmates.

And two of the event's organisers, Viv Owen and Richard Fisk, who have always lived close to the place they were first educated, agree they had good times there.

Mrs Owen, who went to Clapham Terrace between 1948 and 1953, said: "I enjoyed it - it was a very happy school. I enjoyed the music here and the teachers were fantastic.

"It hasn't changed much structurally but it seems a lot brighter these days."

Mr Fisk, who started at the school in 1948 and stayed on in the senior years until 1958, recalls having to endure the cane when punished.

But he added: "I enjoyed the Christmas parties and playing football - I had a thoroughly good ten years at that school and have no bad memories."

This is the second re-union to take place at the school in 18 months and each time the network of former pupils grows.

The person to travel furthest this time was Mary Dale from the USA but there are others who have come from Australia.

Mrs Owen said: "It is nostalgic, we have traced so many people. We have managed to connect people who have lost touch and that has been our main aim."

And Mr Fisk was happy to meet some friends who he had not seen in decades.

He said: "It was nice to meet up with people who you haven't spoken to for well over 50 years.

"People come from all over the place and turn up when you did not expect them to."

Current Clapham Terrace pupils and headteacher Sue Gallagher helped to make the school's old boys and girls feel welcome by serving them refreshments.

Old school registers and documents were on display and these will be given to Warwickshire County Record Office to be preserved.

The event, which was also arranged by class of 1954 pupils Jeni Lord and Iain Newsome, raised £350 to go towards new equipment for the school.

A video camera was bought with the proceeds of the previous reunion.

Former pupils from Clapham Terrace meet at the Jephson Garden restaurant on the first Wednesday of each month. Their next meeting is on May 7 at 11am.
