The head of the county's health authority has resigned to work for a private healthcare company.
David Rose handed in his resignation as chief executive of Warwickshire Primary Care Trust - which oversees all NHS services in the county - at the start of June.

He will leave in August to join Nestor Healthcare Group in Birmingham.

The compan
y provides primary and social care services to the NHS and other organisations.

Mr Rose said: "The past 18 months have been very rewarding and I am proud that I will be leaving the trust in a strong position for my successor.

"When I took up my role in 2006, Warwickshire PCT had just been formed from three former primary care trusts.

"Today it is a unified organisation, on a secure financial footing and making a real difference to the health of the people who live in the county.

"I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of the trust's staff whose talent and dedication made this success possible.

"I have been offered an opportunity to work for a health care organisation in Birmingham that suits my personal circumstances."

The trust's director of finance Gillian Entwistle will take on the role of interim chief executive until a new chief executive is appointed.

Trust chairman Bryan Stoten said: "It is important to understand that this is an interim arrangement and is in no way at all an indication of who is likely to replace David.

"The post will be advertised in the usual places in due course and David's successor will be appointed through a rigorous selection process.

"I am however immensely grateful to Gill that she is prepared to undertake this duty at this time."

He added: "We are grateful for the significant contributions that David has made to the development of the trust.

"We will build on these excellent foundations to deliver the highest quality health care for everyone in Warwickshire. We wish him all the best for the future."

Mr Rose started his management career at British Airways on a fast track graduate training scheme.

He joined the NHS in 1991 and was chief executive of the Hereford Hospitals NHS Trust before taking on his latest post.
