Green slime and a crater in the playground could only mean one thing for children at a Southam school - the aliens had landed.
When pupils at St James Primary School went to school last Monday they were called to attend an emergency assembly.

They were informed an alien spacecraft had crashed in the playground and sent out to investigate.

Headteacher Carl Upton said: "A team of staff created the alien crash site after school so when the children arrived the next morning they were totally unaware of it.

"We held an emergency assembly to introduce the crash to them and residents acted as eye witnesses.

"It was a literacy-based event and went fantastically well. We wanted to do something imaginative that could be rigged up quite easily and thought an alien landing would also appeal to the boys and get them writing.

"We've had loads of thanks and comments from parents about how much the children enjoyed it and hope to hold similar events in the future."
