Garden history and design are the favourite interests of a former National Trust head gardener taking up a new post in Warwick.
Gary Webb will be taking charge of Hill Close Victorian gardens overlooking Warwick racecourse off Friars Street.

He has a wealth of experience after managing the extensive grounds at Dunster Castle in Somerset.

He said: "I'm really looking forward to the challenge of the new post.

"My key interests are garden history and design. There are great opportunities for me to enhance these hedged gardens which were so important to the town in Victorian times and which now give such pleasure to our visitors."

Mr Webb was educated in Solihull and studied garden management and design at Pershore College.

He carried out restoration work at another National Trust property, Croombe Park near Worcester, before moving to Dunster Castle.
