Poignant, striking and beautiful images grace the walls of Leamington's Spa Centre for the town's annual photographic society exhibition.
Visitors to the venue will be able to view a whole range of pictures on display from Warwick Castle at sunset to Camel Thorn trees in Namibia.

The prints - more than 80 - are the work of members of Leamington Spa Photographic Society, which has met in one guise or another since Victorian times.

Throughout the year the 60-strong group attend weekly meetings to share information and ideas, go on field trips and hear talks from photography experts.

With a wide age range of members, interests are diverse and the latest digital photographic processes are discussed and used along with film.

The exhibition features the best prints taken in a variety of categories including portraits, local scenes and projected images.

Group vice-chairman Helen Ashbourne said: "It covers a huge range of subjects from natural history to travel and rock concerts.

"We have booked some great speakers for the coming year and hope the exhibition will encourage new photographers to join us."

The exhibition is free and was opened this week by deputy mayor Coun Balvinder Gill. It will run until October 12.

Photographs may be viewed from Mondays to Saturdays between 10am and 4pm, as well as on performance evenings.

n The society meets on Tuesday evenings from September 30 in the Clarence Suite at the Oddfellows Hall, Warwick Street, from 7.20pm for a 7.30pm start.

EXHIBITION WINNERS: Monochrome print of the year cup - Paul Cole, The Archie Payne memorial trophy for newcomers - Adam Bailey, The Gundry cup for portraits - Mike Abbott, Leamington Morning News trophy for local scenes - Barbara Payman, John Neville cup for colour prints - Gayle Kirton, Projected images - Glyn Thomas, Tom Hull cup for slides by newcomers - David Meredith, Natural history trophy - John Berry.
